Small World funded its first Scholarship Program in 2001. Each candidate was selected based on the requirements set by Small World. Since inception, Small World has established a relationship with Collin College, awarding 2 years’ scholarships for students wishing to complete their first two years at a well-accredited school dedicated to excellence. Each scholarship includes books and tuition and mentorship.

Small World Scholarship
Application and Qualification Criteria

(You must provide a recent school photo with your application)

The Small World Scholarships are a full scholarship for two years. Small World will cover tuition, books and any other related fees up to a total of $4,500.00 for the two years ($1,125.00 per semester). Please note the; Technical school tuition may be slightly higher depending on the career selected. The student will be responsible any additional costs beyond $4,500.00

To be eligible for consideration of a Small World Scholarship the following criteria must be met. Failure to meet any of these requirements will result in the scholarship being terminated:

  • Applicant must be US citizen, Legal permanent Resident (green card), I45, H4 form or other documentation, or a valid US Passport.

    If you are Not able to provide any of these and/or proof, We will not be able to interview you!

  • This application is open to students attending Frisco Independent School District who plan to attend Collin College and that reside in Collin County. Students are responsible for confirming with Collin College whether their address falls within the Collin County boundaries for the regular tuition; scholarships will not be awarded in these cases. Students may contact Collin College directly and provide their address to verify eligibility. For more information on Collin College tuition, please follow the provided link Here.

  • You must submit your application on: https://www.smallworldwl.org/. Please make sure you provide all the needed information, including a headshot of yourself.

  • Upon high school graduation, applicant must attend Collin College or Collin College Technical School in Allen, Texas for a minimum of 2 years and must have a minimum of 12 credits per semester and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA by the end each school year. Students may attend summer school in addition to their regular 12 credit hours to help complete the 60 credits required for an associate degree within two years. Students must notify Small World of any plans to attend Summer School in order for appropriate funding to be arranged. This scholarship is only available to Frisco ISD high school students enrolling in Collin College post high school graduation. No exceptions.

  • Recipient must agree to volunteer with Small World for a minimum of 6 hours on either Holiday Angel Program and/or Back to School Program.

  • You must be available to attend our scholarship awards ceremony if you are selected for the $4,500 scholarship. This date will be determined before the end of the school year. Please Note: During the Awards Ceremony you will be given a detailed outline of how to use your scholarship dollars at the book store. It is very important to follow this procedures to avoid delays getting books, supplies and registering.

  • You will be required to provide Small World your school transcripts each semester along with Collin College account statement to release your Scholarship fund for the following semester.

  • You are also responsible to communicate any changes in contact information (address/email). You must be living in Collin County during the tenure of your scholarship.

  • School grades must be sent to assigned mentor via email. Failure to send your transcript will result in the termination of your Scholarship.

  • Scholarship winners must sign a contractual agreement before they can be awarded the scholarship to the terms stated in the application.

  • Applicant must meet the following criteria:

    • Demonstrated financial need showing that attendance at Collin College would not be possible without support from this scholarship. Proof of need may be provided through a parent’s most recent tax return and/or other documentation verifying financial circumstances. Any additional information you can bring to the interview will be helpful.

  • Application Essay Requirement:
    The application requires an essay written by the student describing why they need this scholarship and how it will impact their future. The essay must be uploaded with the application.

  • You must have at least a 3.0 GPA at the time of the interview.

  • You must demonstrate that you have transportation to attend Collin College, EX., car pool service, your own vehicle (preferable), etc.

Additional information needed: (have all requested)

  1. School transcript from the last two years.

  2. Recent school photo.

  3. Income verification for all adults in household.

Accepted forms of income verification include:

  • Recent Tax Returns (current or previous year)

  • W2 Forms

  • 1090

  • Most current pay stub(s) one month's work

  • Social Security, Workman's Comp, Unemployment, Child Support
